SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 01, 2006 --
Altium Limited (ASX: ALU), leading
developer of Windows-based electronics design software, today announced the
latest release of the Altium Designer Viewer Edition, which enables users
to quickly and easily view, print, cross probe and explore design projects
and documents that have been created in Altium's unified electronic product
development system, Altium Designer.
This latest Viewer Edition license provides users with expanded
functionality to support the recent Altium Designer 6 release as well as
design projects created in all previous versions of the software. The
Viewer Edition installation also easily allows users to keep up-to-date
with Altium Designer's new Web Update feature.
"In harmony with all our efforts to help engineers lower development costs,
bring products to market faster, and focus on innovative answers to today's
design challenges -- the Altium Designer Viewer Edition facilitates the
overall electronic product development process by enhancing access to
design data across an entire organization," commented Nick Martin, Altium
founder and CEO. "Deploying the Altium Designer Viewer Edition also serves
to lower organizations' design tool TCO and maximizes ROI, both of which
are absolute necessities in today's harsh competitive environment."
The Altium Designer Viewer Edition license boosts engineering design team
productivity and accelerates time to market by significantly aiding the
communication and sharing of design data. Designed to be installed by all
those in a company who are involved in the wider electronic product
development process, the Viewer gives users ability to freely integrate all
aspects of a design while preserving the integrity of the projects by
preventing editing of the design documents. As a true viewer, it offers
members of a team quick, read-only access to a design, allowing them to
review and provide feedback to the original Designer. Users can open and
securely explore single documents, design projects or multiple projects
that have been grouped together as part of a design workspace.
All of Altium Designer's powerful review and inspection capabilities are
enabled in this latest Viewer Edition license, providing engineering design
team members with access to the full complement of query, viewing and
inspection capabilities, from checking the parameters in a schematic
component, to examining the printed circuit board (PCB) design rules,
through to scrutinizing the routing with Altium Designer 6's new Board
Insight Lens feature. Users can also generate reports and printouts, and
open and view Gerber, ODB++, NC Drill, and other manufacturing files with
the Viewer Edition.
Availability
The Altium Designer Viewer Edition License is available free-of-charge and
is activated by a license which is registered to the user for 12 months.

About Altium Designer
Altium Designer is the only unified electronic product development system
that allows engineers to take a design from concept to completion in a
single application. Altium Designer unifies:
-- Board-level design and PCB layout
-- Manufacturing file editing and verification
-- Component information management
-- Device- and vendor-independent programmable logic design
-- Embedded development for field-programmable gate array- (FPGA) based
systems using soft and discrete processors
-- Project data & document management
Altium Designer's unified design environment delivers design flow
efficiencies not possible using conventional development methodologies
enforced by the traditional point tool approach. The unified environment
also eliminates the need to purchase and integrate numerous extra-cost
add-ons to increase functionality, or make up a complete solution.
